Team dynamics are the unconscious, psychological forces that influence the direction of a team’s behaviour and performance. Team dynamics are created by the nature of the team’s work, the personalities within the team, their working relationships with other people, and the environment in which the team works.

There are many ways which affects team dynamics:

  • Weak Leadership: When a team doesn’t have a strong leader all the people in the team feels as if they are leader and leads them to dominate each other with results in fall of productivity of team
  • Blocking behaviour: Don’t be so harsh with the team members, Allow them to explore their best and make them interactive with their ideas. Prevent them from being lazy, bored etc., Which are not entertained by team members.
  • Don’t allow team members to take things silly which may affect team dynamics
  • Some other reasons for poor dynamics are lack of communication among team members, some other personal issues which may reduce focus on work. So, first take some time to solve all the issues among team members which gives good productivity.
Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships.
  • Deal problems at that moment which helps the team members in spite of negative behaviour. First know more about the issue and solve in a manner such that the same kind of behaviour does not exist between the team members.
  • As we already know that solving a problem in the initial stage(root) is the solution and later on we can’t resolve them.
  • These qualities of team can withstand any kind of problems that occur in our life as we know that “Tree with strong roots laughs at storms”
  • Teams should not be arrogant against others or within the team. Teams should be self content and respect each other which develops a positive behaviour.
  • When there is a failure, teams should not be distressed. They should come up with a solution how they need to bounce back in spite of failure which is related to “The wind doesn’t break a tree it just bends a tree”.

Evolution of Team dynamics:

  • Address problems quickly which makes the team go with a positive behaviour.
  • Allow all the members in the team to be interactive as “Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much”
  • Build better communication between team members which helps resolve the issue at a fast pace.
  • Value diversity and think how to bring trust and respect among team members. Give freedom to people to share their ideas and communicate within a team. ”Teamwork is the fuel that allows common people to achieve uncommon results”
Teamwork begins by building trust.
  • Leader of the team should resolve all the issues which help in good team dynamics. Create a workplace that supports employee well being ,success and enthusiasm for work and strengthen positive behaviours like successful collaboration, sharing of ideas, trust and respect.
  • Don’t underestimate the work of the individual. That individual can only be formed into a group. As “The strength of each individual is team and strength of team is each individual”. So, Talent wins games, but teamwork wins championships.
  • Teams and individual team members need a strong focus to thrive.Keep team members up to date with the project details so that the members of the team will be participating actively in the group.
  • Ask all the people decision while project is going on so that the passive members in the team can raise their voices as we know that “Thoughtful and wise people are not talkative people”
  • Team should build trust and openness so that the team members feel safe to share their information without fear which can lead to more creativity
  • Team Leader should not stress the members of the team as Participative leaders step back and give members the space to work autonomously. Instead of controlling the group, they provide the inputs , guidance and information.
  • The members of the team should “be like bamboo, the higher you grow the deeper you bow” which helps the teams succeed.
  • In difficult times a leader should play an important role which helps to withstand the team dynamics.
  • Unity is strength. When there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved.
Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision.
  • Make use of the virtual platform to be more interactive with the team members using the online platforms like Google Meet, Skype etc., which helps in making things productive even in the pandemic.
  • If any one of the team is not good at behaviour then you need to resolve the issue in a logical way such that “When the shadow of the tree is bent then straighten the tree not the shadow”.
  • Stay connected with the team members virtually which helps not to break the connectivity with people. In the current digital world we no longer need to meet each other we can connect online which gives the experience like our regular meeting.
  • Don’t get disappointed when you get a failure because ”Only those who dare to fail greatly, can ever achieve greatly”.
The road to success and the road to failure are almost exactly the same.

Excellent group dynamics can facilitate employees productively and satisfaction while allowing your teams to reach their set targets on time. However, teams with excellent dynamics still require ongoing observation, correction and guidance, so be prepared to continue providing your team with leadership and training they need to thrive. So, “Coming together is beginning, Keeping together is progress, Working together is success”.

Team Work

Businesses thrive when they have a diverse team of members who can contribute individual ideas. Team work provides improved efficiency, productivity and provides great learning opportunities.
