Being home quarantine we have a lot of time .So, we can do lots of things if we think we can do. In our present living conditions we have all the resources to develop our skills by ourselves.
Our current world is encouraged so that we can learn things using the internet.
The Internet makes our life easier and simpler. Even it serves as a teacher to students on lockdown period. We can complete all the tasks which were pending and we think we can complete things when we have some extra time. We can complete all those works which is beneficial to our future work.
Even we can do research on things to get professionality in that particular background.
We can learn new things even we are not aware of and we can be professionals in those by learning in lockdown by ourselves.
We have a lot of things to learn in just 2minutes using the internet, can’t we use this lockdown period productively?
- The skills will be useless unless you apply your learning. But we humans are very much lazy to do things if we don’t have deadlines.
- To overcome procrastination ,put down an execution plan with deadlines in the calendar.
- Planning and goal setting increases mental engagement with the learning.
- Noting and executing as per your calendar ensures action without having to remember commitments.
Behaviour CHANGE:
- People should have a change in behaviour to initiate things.
- Being home quarantine we can initially develop some basic skills of LSRW.
- To make all round progress ,act on multiple tasks simultaneously. This will be exhausting when you expend some will power to execute each task a day.
- To avoid taxing our willpower, incorporate these activities as habits into our daily routine .
For example : If you want to go for a jog everyday at same time ,it is no more than a decision to be taken. Now convert an activity into a routine ,use the motivation from the power of accountability. This involve another person for jogging everyday together. Since you are accountable you will slip into daily routine.
One popular method to build habits is called the 21/90 rule. The rule is simple enough. Commit to a personal or professional goal for 21 straight days. After three weeks, the pursuit of that goal should have become a habit. Once you’ve established that habit, you continue to do it for another ninety days. So, we can use this time to learn new habits where we will be successful.
To develop skills :
Firstly, you can concentrate on listening to some of the articles so you can learn how to develop an article in the pace we want to write. Later read aloud your article to some of your friends, relatives either in direct way or through a voice/video call. Later by reading it continuously in front of many people you can develop a skill of public speaking. Finally document your writings so you can attain all the four skills in just few days.
The other equally important professional skill is written communication. To improve an art of written storytelling, start publishing at least 200–250 words per day in a blog or a forum, or start writing some articles in the topics you are interested in.
Initially ,you will struggle to find a subject or the topic. As you continue for 2–3 weeks you will discover a new style of your own. Therefore with feedback from readers ,you’ll develop a strong story- telling technique which will serve you.
Don’t dismiss meditation as it is the powerful mental tool to increase your focus and output in tasks ,enhances quality of decision making and increases productivity through efficient task switching. Start with 10 minutes a day and move to 30 minutes and later it’s a big deal to avoid it.
Consider your home as a public speaking opportunity and target how you can improve public speaking.
You can develop a skill even if you are not professional yet. This lockdown is very useful to do some of the things you are backward.
